In 2020, with the challenges of mining operations in Banyuwangi and Wetar Island, as well as the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on all mining operations, Merdeka still posted operating revenues of USD321.9 million with tax and royalty contributions of USD51.6 million.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Merdeka provides economic contributions through employee salaries and benefits. In 2020, Merdeka paid employee salaries and benefits of US$42.7 million.<\/p>\n<p>Merdeka&#8217;s mining operations create jobs for residents of the districts and provinces where we operate; in 2020, local employees account for 70% of our total employees.
